Ceramic-type glow plugs ensure excellent heat resistance and durability, because of heater elements comprised in ceramics made of silicon nitride. Ceramic-type glow plugs have been employed in diesel engines since 1985. Ceramic glow plugs are equipped with a special heating coil, which has a particularly high melting point. This is enclosed in the new ceramic material silicon nitrite. The significance of ceramic is silicon nitrite; silicon nitrite is a particularly good heat conductor, so that the preheating time is very short. The material can also withstand rapid heating for long periods of time! The ceramic glow plug is more heat resistant and last longer than a sheathed type glow plug!
